Morning Exercise Equals Consistent Exercise!

Good morning, friends! May I still call us friends after sharing yesterday’s tough truths?

Isn’t it amazing how toxic our sedentary habits are? But I’m so grateful for all the fabulous feedback. It proves that we are in this together, and that makes overcoming our challenges so much more doable!

As promised, I am now going to encourage us with something more than just another post on how to sit less and how to move more...

Are we ready?

It’s MORNING EXERCISE!

Hang on! Don’t go! Hear me out!

For those of us who are not morning people, it may be exhausting, irritating and impossible to fathom waking up to exercise. I once had the same negative outlook. I could barely tolerate the first rays of sunlight through my window, let alone the concept of morning fitness! Now I cannot go a day without it. It renews me from the inside out, and I hope to inspire the same health shift here in our community.

Let’s begin with open minds as we learn the many benefits of “first-thing” fitness...

*Morning exercise equates to consistent exercise and increased fitness. We finally make gains in our exercise tolerance because we are consistently getting the job done! Morning workouts ensure that no disruptions or distractions hinder our daily fitness endeavors. This includes work, errands, socializing and the common fatigue of the day’s end.

*Morning exercise increases metabolism. The fancy terminology is “Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption” (EPOC), and it simply means that the body uses more calories after a good workout, even during such inactive tasks as desk work and driving. This heightened metabolism facilitates weight management.

*Morning exercise elevates mood, decreases anxiety and also boosts attention, focus and memory due to the secretion of powerful neurotransmitters.

*Morning exercise improves sleep. It enhances both the duration and the quality of sleep by promoting deeper, more restorative sleep cycles. Evening exercise often has the opposite effect.

*Morning exercise is the BOMB decision that dramatically changes FOR THE BETTER what we do with the remainder of the day!

Why? Because....

*One good choice leads to another!

*One good habit leads to another!

*One obedient act leads to another!

Friends, when we begin each day with something as potent as exercise - even just a brief bout - we become better people. We eat better, think better, remember better, love better, move better, avoid prolonged sitting better, burn calories better and sleep better.

If we really want to offset the tough truths discussed yesterday AND reap all of the benefits mentioned today, then it’s time to embrace morning exercise. It can happen. I’m going to accompany you every step of the way with plenty of tips, so be of good cheer! We remain just one good decision away from completely different lives...
